Hertfordshire's 2023 Open Gardens celebration found several members of Berkhamsted Poetry Society shaking off the rain showers under the leafy canopy of this tiny tropical garden to entertain an invited and appreciative audience.
The annual charitable scheme celebrates 'open gardens' where the public can go to enjoy the ambience and scented beauty of lovingly nurtured local gardens for a nominal entrance fee (usually accompanied by tea and cake, courtesy of the home owners and hosts). The funds raised go to maintaining this delightful community initiative and to making this annual event possible across counties countrywide.
Special thanks to Mark, owner of the Tiny Tropical Garden in deepest canal-side, Watford, who invited us to regale his garden visitors in August 2023, to BPS member Anna Marie Felice who organised our visit, and to fellow poets Clare Pasquale and Stephen Charlton who joined us on the day. A tropical paradise indeed, and those cakes were delicious!
